Saturday 1st June 2019 saw Aylesbury United Ladies & Girls FC celebrate another successful season, with the whole club coming together for its end-of-season presentation day. For the second year running, the club organised a family fun day at Bierton Sports Centre. Players, siblings and parents were invited to beat the keeper, play garden games, enjoy a hot dog or two, or simply soak up the rays and atmosphere on a gloriously sunny day.
Prior to the announcement of the individual awards, each player received a participation trophy as a memento of their 2018/2019 season. The younger players also received personalised certificates, some with more traditional titles - “Most Versatile Player Award” - than others - “The Bruce Grobbelaar Award for Insane Goalkeeping”.
James Howard, U14s manager, and Mark Rogers, Ladies manager, were presented with engraved silver salvers to mark their retirement from coaching. James Howard was also presented with the Club Person of the Year award in recognition of his five seasons of managing the current U14s team, the highlight of which was winning the Bucks Girls Football League U11s Cup Final in a dramatic penalty shoot-out.
“What a fantastic way to end the season,” said Acting Chair, Andrew Henley. “Well done to all the award winners and a big thank you to all the volunteers for organising another successful presentation day.”
