Four more goals!!

Aylesbury United Ladies played their last game of the 2016/17 season as they took on Hitchin Belles in a friendly. It ended up being a great finish to what has been an enjoyable season.

Hitchin started the better and dominated the first 15 minutes but the Aylesbury United defence soaked up the pressure and never really looked like conceding with Keri Clark in the United goal for the first time rarely tested. Aylesbury grew into the game however and on the 15th minute a ball out of midfield was picked up by Keely McLeod on the left who crossed it to Isabel Browne who scored with the perfect shot across the keeper to make it 1-0. After 30 minutes the lead was doubled as the Hitchin keeper was alleged to have handled outside the area and a blistering free kick by Amber Chalmers flew into the net. By this point Aylesbury were in control and never really looked in danger of losing their lead.

Soon after the 2nd half started Hithcin scored an unfortunate own goal as a back pass went past the keeper to make it 3-0. Hitchin did get a goal back midway through the half but Aylesbury completed the scoring with seven minutes to go when a through ball by Kate Townley was picked up by Megan Franklin who scored with a precise finish inside the near post to make the final score 4-1. Diana Vega was chosen as player-of-the-match by the opposition with the Aylesbury players choosing Kate as theirs. It was a good performance by all the players and a great result to end the season.
