Aylesbury United Ladies went into their away match against Summertown stars with confidence having beaten them just two weeks before. However, some days it is just not your day, things seem to be against you and nothing comes off. Aylesbury United dominated play throughout the match but the final through ball to the strikers and wingers never managed to come off. Summertown relied on long diagonal balls from the wing into the middle but the Aylesbury defence coped easily with these and the Aylesbury goal was never really under threat. However, half way through the first half a long ball through the middle did catch the Aylesbury defence off guard and the pace of the Summertown striker took her away from the defence and she managed to slot past the keeper. Aylesbury made a few changes at half time but it did not change their luck and their continued dominance was not rewarded as the game ended 1-0 to Summertown Stars who battled and defended well against the continuous Aylesbury attack. Kayleigh Mott was voted Player of the Match for her great runs and skill down the Aylesbury right wing. Another day it would have been a different result for Aylesbury but they should keep their heads up and play similar football in their remaining three games of the season.
