Aylesbury United Ladies played their third and final pre-season friendly ahead of the new season which starts next Sunday. Over the three friendlies there has been a great improvement as the players get to know each other and start to gel. Today's game showed that the hard work at training and the match time is paying off with a much better performance and a great deal of hard work in very warm conditions.
Taking on Penn & Tylers, Aylesbury United dominated long stretches of the game and played some good football. Their hard work meant that their attacking football led to some good opportunities but the final ball let them down at times and there were not many clear cut chances. Penn & Tylers constantly looked to get their pacey striker away but she was well shepherded by the Aylesbury defensive unit and she did not get too many chances. However, it was Penn & Tylers who scored the only goal of the game which came from an unusual Aylesbury defensive error.
Although Aylesbury continued to work really hard the result they deserved didn't happen and they have a week to prepare themselves for their first game of the season against Chinnor Ladies.
