U12 Greens go down in classic

Match report by James Byrne
The U12 Greens and Whites contested the BGFL Cup Final at the Thame ASM Stadium. With the Whites coming 3rd in Division One and the Greens 2nd in Division Two, we went into the game as underdogs but knew it was going to be competitive
As normal with the girls, we started slowly and found ourselves pinned back for the first 5 minutes. Abbey in goal and the back 3 of Milly, Evie and Georgia kept the whites at bay. We settled down and started to get into the match after this and took the lead when Milly scored from range. This increased the girl's confidence and we started to edge it with captain Chenea dominating the midfield, although could never relax with the quality of our opponents. Felicia then fired in to put us 2-0 up after 15 minutes after Paige's corner caused problems in the box. The next few minutes saw chances for both teams without either scoring. As the half came to a close, the Whites got back on top and two quick goals meant we went in at half time level, which was a fair reflection of the half.
The second half kicked off with the Whites still on the ascendancy and two quickfire goals have them a 4-2 lead. The girls kept going though and Maisie and Julia both went close, whilst an outrageous piece of skill from Natasha nearly resulted in a goal. The Whites were always a threat though and gaps were left as we chased the game, fortunately Rosalina and Lily kept it tight back there to allow us to push forward.
The girls carried on pushing until the end but couldn't pull it back. To push such a great team so close was an excellent achievement. All of the girls were absolutely superb, I honestly could not be any prouder. We'll just have to get through again next season and go one better.
