Whites lift the cup after derby thriller

Match report by Jon Bishop
It was a proud day on Saturday when not one but both of our U12s sides contested the BGFL Cup Final at the Thame ASM Stadium.
Having watched the Greens on many occasions this season, I knew it was going to be a tough game for us and so it proved.
After a slowish start both sides really got into the game but suddenly we found ourselves behind to a long range effort. The Greens kept the pressure on and quickly went 2-0 up. The girls really needed to step it up and so they did. Sophie Bish managed to squeeze one in after a long run to get us back in the game before she doubled her tally straight from a corner to make it 2-2 at half time.
A quick start to the second half saw Bish complete her hat trick from long range before adding a 4th five minutes later. The Greens to their credit never gave up and kept coming at us, but our outstanding defensive duo of Kacie-Mae and Cerys, as well as Immy in goal, kept them at bay. There was also chances for the lightning fast Leah, as well as the silky skilled Sophie BEVAN. So 4-2 the game finished and the cup lifted.
So a fitting end to what had been a fantastic season for our girls. This squad has developed amazingly and fully deserved to lift the cup. This, after a third place finish in a tough first division, with 90% of the squad playing a year up. You have done your coaches, your families and your club proud.
