The Ducks have gone to Wembley, To watch the Lionesses friendly, Come on Ellen White, Come on Ellen White.

Saturday 9th November saw 165 players, coaches and families travel to Wembley Stadium to watch England Women play Germany Women. This was the first time visiting Wembley for some of the girls and the first time seeing the Lionesses in action for others.

It was an extra-special day for the club as Ellen White is from Aylesbury (which was renamed Ellesbury for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Semi-Final) and everyone cheered loudly when she received her pre-match award, scored her goal and was named Player of the Match.

Among the players who went to watch the game were Jessica James and Imogen White.

Jessica James, U11 Greens:

"I really enjoyed the match at Wembley against Germany. The atmosphere in a huge stadium with such a massive crowd was amazing and lots of fun. It was great to watch the Lionesses with my friends from football, as well as my family and other people from the club. It was a shame we lost the match but it was really good to see Ellen White score.

I have watched England Women several times and they have inspired me to play for my country. I can use both my left and right feet and I hope one day that I will be able to use them both on a pitch like Wembley."

Imogen White, U12 Whites:

"The atmosphere at the England match was brilliant. Just walking up those steep stairs was amazing. I was so glad that 77,768 fans came to see this women's game. The Lionesses had a brilliant game. They worked very well and didn't give up, which is what we need to do to show the world that women are just as strong as men, sometimes stronger. Unfortunately, I think I jinxed that missed penalty – being a goalkeeper, I called the save.

Ellen White is a real inspiration to me, not just because my full name is Imogen Ellen White but also because she is so strong and such a brilliant player. Although her position isn’t number one, she is my number one on the field!

Wembley was brilliant, I had an amazing time with my friends and I would definitely go again. I was so happy when Ellen White got on the score sheet."
