A close game

After a delayed kick off to 3pm we managed to dodge the torrential rain.

Chinnor took an early lead with a goal in the opening minutes, Aylesbury reacted well and Sarah Jackson made a great run on the left wing playing a neat pass to Sarah Hayden only for it to be flagged off side.

Kayleigh Mott who was named player of the match picked up the ball on the right wing, the net was not found this time but minutes later as Sarah MC cleared the ball high for Kayleigh to run onto, Kayleigh took the ball past the Chinnor defender and took her chance to score Aylesbury’s first goal.

Aylesbury keeper Gemma Warner, played a long ball through to Amber Chalmers for a lovely touch with a cheeky flick to Elena Lancaster, but on this occasion the woodwork came to Chinnor’s aid.
Elena, making her debut for Aylesbury, played a great ball to Amber only to be saved by Chinnor’s keeper.

Chinnor scored a second goal before half time making it 2 – 1 at the break.

Aylesbury came out in the second half more determined to get 3 points, and they played their hearts out. Substitute Clare Knowler did exactly what was asked and after a ball was headed into Clare’s direction, she spun, took a shot and scored.
During the second half it was all Aylesbury, but unfortunately the linesman and the woodwork were against them.
After a few minutes Chinnor hit back to make it 3 v 2 and Aylesbury had to work harder, which they did. They dug deep and from a goal kick by Gemma , Amber controlled the ball, played out wide to Kayleigh who crossed the ball into Sarah H to head in another goal for Aylesbury.

Sarah H was unlucky not to get her 2nd goal as she took on the Chinnor keeper lobbing her from outside of the box only for the ball to go marginally wide.
With the clock ticking Chinnor had only their second chance of the half and grabbed the last goal, final score 4 v 3
A fantastic effort by Aylesbury and they should be proud of their efforts today. They played some lovely football and only allowed Chinnor a handful of chances.

Next week we play Holyport at home for the League Cup.
