After three difficult games against the best two teams in the league Aylesbury United Ladies knew they needed to get their season back on track against Woodstock Ladies. It looked to be quite close game on paper and it proved to be that way. The wind played a massive part in the game and Aylesbury made the most of that in the first half and dominated play. However, it was not until just after the half hour when they took the lead as Anna Lane powered in a header from an Amber Chalmers corner. The lead was doubled just two minutes later when another corner from Amber went straight in at the near post. And just nine minutes later it was 3-0 as Sara Madden-Connor battled in midfield and won the ball before passing forward to Anna who took it past the last defender and slotted it past the keeper.
The second half was much more even but Woodstock now had the wind on their side. Although there was some great defensive work by Aylesbury, especially from Krissy Mullen who was player of the match, Woodstock came back into the game and got a goal after the 12th minute of the half . Both sides played some good football during the rest of the half with chances on both sides but with just seconds to go Woodstock made it 3-2. However, Aylesbury held on for a deserved and much needed win ahead of the cup game next week.
