Cup run is over

Aylesbury United Ladies took on Sandhurst Town in the 2nd round of the cup on a rather cold Sunday afternoon and unfortunately saw their cup run come to an end. It was probably the worst start to the match for Aylesbury as the pace of the Sandhurst striker took them by surprise and they were 3-0 down in the first five minutes. After a few adjustments it became a very even game with Aylesbury battling hard to try and get back into the game but it was not until the 16th minute of the second half when they got the breakthrough. A good attacking move came to a halt when the Aylesbury striker was fouled just outside the box. The subsequent free-kick was put away brilliantly by Amber Chalmers to make it 3-1.

Unfortunately that was as good as it got for Aylesbury United. Although they continued to battle really hard and work as a team Sandhurst got three more goals to make it 6-1 at the finish but Aylesbury should be proud of their performance and that they kept their heads up despite such a terrible start. Kayleigh Mott was voted player-of-the-match for her great work down the right hand side. They can now concentrate on the league!
