There are some games that are just not worth talking about. This was one of them for Aylesbury United Ladies as they travelled to Woodstock Town Reserves on a bitterly cold day. Although they started reasonably well and made a couple of chances, including a Clare Knowler shot in the first five minutes, Aylesbury never really played to the best of their ability and things just did not go their way. The first half was fairly tight and Catherine Wareham's pace caused Woodstock some problems but it was the home team that took the lead with ten minutes left in the half.
Aylesbury started the second half well and equalised after eight minutes as a ball forward by Krissy Mullen was picked up by Anna Lane who took it across the penalty area before passing it to Isabel Browne who shot past the keeper. That was as good as it got for Aylesbury though. Just two minutes later a ball over the top was collected by the Woodstock striker who took it on and tried to chip the keeper but the Aylesbury keeper handled the ball and was sent off. That was the end of any real chance of a contest and Woodstock went on to score three more goals to win 4-1 although Anna and Isabel up front, and Kayleigh Mott on the right, did cause them some real problems in the last 15 minutes.
It was not Aylesbury United's greatest performance but they will pick themselves up and go again.
