The correct response to two disappointing weeks

After two disappointing results and performances , Aylesbury United Ladies went into a tricky away fixture with City Belles knowing that they needed a better team performance if they wanted to get anything out of the game. The game started with City Belles on the front foot as Aylesbury got used to their new 3-4-3 formation but after the first 10 minutes or so they settled down and the game became very even. City Belles' main tactic was to play forward to their strong striker but she was easily dealt with by the back three of Aylesbury, Sarah Gerrard, Beth Cameron and Player-of-the-Match, Justine Riley. The defensive three were supported ably by a good performance by Keri Clark in the Aylesbury goal who made a number of good saves.

City Belles took the lead after 28 minutes when a defensive error allowed a shot on goal which was well saved by Keri but the striker finished from the rebound. The second half was very even but both teams struggled to make many clear cut chances and no more goals were scored. Although Aylesbury went down to a narrow defeat it was a much better team performance than the last couple of weeks and they can go into the remaining five league games with renewed optimism.
