A fantastic team performance

Aylesbury United Ladies built on a recent upturn in performances and won their home game against Summertown Stars 4-1 to move up to fifth in the table. Aylesbury put in a fantastic team performance and showed a real desire to win the game as they head towards the end of the season.

After a fairly tight start Aylesbury began to dominate the game and they took the lead after 25 minutes as Anna Lane's persistence led to her taking a shot on goal which was superbly saved by the Stars' keeper before Gemma Warner put the rebound into the net. Summertown came back strongly and hit the bar after 36 minutes before equalising three minutes later as their striker took a long ball and shot past the keeper. Their joy was short lived though as just a minute later the ball was crossed into the Summertown 6-yard box and Jess Potts' determination led to her making it 2-1 to Aylesbury at half time.The second half was dominated by Aylesbury and they continued to pile the pressure on as they changed to a 3-4-3 formation. Thirteen minutes into the second half Amber Chalmers picked the ball up and shot past the keeper from 25 yards. A brilliant header by Beanie Cameron, straight from an Amber corner, made the score 4-1 with just six minutes to go.

It was a fabulous team performance by Aylesbury United with many good performances. Keri Clark had a really good game in goal with some excellent decision making and Amber had a good game in midfield but it was Catherine Wareham who was voted player-of-the-match for her pace and workrate. Aylesbury move onto next weeks away game to Chinnor with high confidence and belief in their team's ability. Well done to all the players.
