Aylesbury United Ladies were away to Banbury United Women's Development on Sunday and once again did not get the result that they deserved. It was a very close game throughout with few chances being made by either team but there were some good battles across the field of play. The scoring started in the 8th minute when the Aylesbury keeper made an uncharacteristic mistake and let one in at the near post. However, Aylesbury quickly equalised after the ball was cleared by the home defence but the ball feel to Sara Madden-Connor who shot it in over the keeper from 35 yards. Sara, and Player-of-the-Match Amber Chalmers, dominated midfield and did not allow Banbury any space whilst the solid defensive partnership of Sarah Gerrard and Casey Toovey kept the opposition strikers at arms length. However, Banbury did manage to get a winner as a ball in the Aylesbury penalty area wasn't cleared and the loose ball was fired into the net. Overall, it was a good performance by Aylesbury and they deserved at least a draw but sadly it was not to be.
