A dominant performance by the Ducks

Aylesbury United Ladies went into Sunday's game against bottom of the table Stonesfield Strikers looking to maintain fourth place in the league. They certainly managed that with a dominant performance, some lovely football and lots of goals.

Aylesbury started quickly and made several chances even before opening the scoring on the tenth minute. Tiana Phillips-Maynard played the ball into Sarah Jackson who shot past the Stonesfield keeper to make it 1-0 and within two minutes it was 2-0 as a corner by Sarah led to a bit of a scramble in the box before it was put in by Amber Chalmers. Just five minutes later it was 3-0 as Rachel Saunders collected the ball on the edge of the penalty area and, having held off two defenders, managed to pass the ball to Sarah who shot past the keeper for her second of the game. Although they made numerous further chances, and could have scored several more goals, Aylesbury had to wait until the 35th minute before increasing their lead. Rachel Saunders picked the ball up just inside the box and drove forward, taking the ball past two defenders before getting a rebound from the keepers attempted clearance and slotting the ball into the net. It was 5-0 by half time as Kayleigh Mott crossed the ball from the right but it was blocked by the defender's arm and Amber Chalmers slotted home the resultant penalty.

Aylesbury maintained their dominance throughout the second half and scored three more goals. The first was from a ball that was played into the penalty area by Sara Madden-Connor and found its way to, player-of-the-match, Clare Knowler who slotted it into the net. The second came from a ball down the right to Sarah who crossed it to Tiana who finished it off before Clare got her second of the match by shooting past the keeper to make the final score 8-0. It was a very good performance from Aylesbury United Ladies who can gain a lot of confidence with their recent good form.
