Disppointing end to an enjoyable season

Aylesbury United Ladies ended their league season with a defeat to the league champions elect but they can look back on the campaign with a great deal of pride and enjoyment. It was always going to be a difficult game and City Belles dominated the first half with the wind and slope on their side. However, for the first 30 minutes, Aylesbury defended really well and kept them at bay, partly due to some brilliant saves by Gemma Warner in goal, but unfortunately the last fifteen minutes of the half were not so good with City Belles scoring three quick goals to lead 3-0 at half time. Aylesbury played better in the second half and started to play some good passing football in phases but could not get the breakthrough although a shot by Tiana Phillips-Maynard slammed against the crossbar. Unfortunately, as well as they played, Aylesbury could not score and eventually lost 4-0.

There would some good performances and joint players-of-the-match: Leigh Reed for her defensive play, Gemma Warner for some great saves and Beanie Cameron for her persistence and control.
