A well deserved win !

Following last week’s Cup action, it was time for the Ladies to focus back on the league. They have had a good start to the season so far however still needed that all important win.

Aylesbury started strong against the young Carterton side. With just 10 minutes on the clock Amber looked set to score with her shot going high over the cross bar. Closely followed Aylesbury's 2nd chance to take the lead when Elena played a perfect pass to Sarah Jackson's feet towards the corner flag. Sarah took on the defenders to shoot, again going over the bar.

Between the sticks, Gemma made a fantastic save off the line with her left foot to deny Carterton.

Carterton were quick to break, and captain Sarah Gerrard made sure not once but twice to break up the attack.

Aylesbury attacked again, Lianne Tuner played a great pass to Sarah J and we saw Aylesbury play some lovely football.

Carterton took the lead after 16 minutes, what appeared to be a push on an Aylesbury defender, the ref allowed play to go on and Carterton scored.

Just before the break Aylesbury keeper Gemma made another fine save, punching the ball out of danger.

Half Time 0 v 1

Aylesbury were not giving up and started off the stronger team, Leigh Reed and Sarah G clearing the ball at all the right times. A clearance by the defence, player of the match Elena picked up the ball and went on a run to slot the ball past the keeper. 1 v 1 and everything to play for.

Aylesbury continued to dominate and after a cross from Elena to the edge of the box, Jen Lambie shot but a great one handed save from the keeper kept her from scoring

Clare Knowler nearly had her name on the score sheet when she had a shot go just wide following a pass from Justine.

A short goal kick by Cartertons keeper resulted in Izabella intercepting the ball and giving the ball to Sarah Jackson for Aylesbury's 2nd goal.

Carterton nearly hit back with a well taken corner towards the end however Leigh made sure they would not equalise.

A great team performance today, and a well deserved win.

Next week the ladies play Haddenham away from home.
