Yesterday AUFC U16's hosted Mortonville in the league cup at Fairford leys.
Earlier in the season Aylesbury had taken the bragging rights, so we expected a strong response and it was so.
A even first half which had seen us go close on at least 4 occasions with good chances carved out unfortunately ended with us trailing by 1.
A change at half time saw Milly Empson emerge from between the stix and take up her usual position in midfield with Dani Coward stepping up and going in goal with Jess Lewis dropping into centre back.
Shuffle over, off we went, Aylesbury pushed and after a sustained period a piece of magic from Halle poland which saw the ball hit the top corner from 25 yards pulled us level with the spirits lifted we pushed time and again but disaster struck with player of the match Milly Crombie rolling her ankle and reducing us to 10 late on gave mortonville the edge and with the time running down and the extra player they pinched it with a somewhat soft one. Final score 1-2.
All in all a very good display and full commitment from Aylesbury, I felt very disappointed for the girls as they had given me everything.
Next week home to MK in the second round of the county cup.
