Our girls for the day were
Annie
Vanya
Hollie
Hannah
Lily
And Sophie bishop
So on a bright and sunny morning, the girls set up to play their first game against the eagles.
Vanya took her turn in goal for this game and was rarely called into action. Her distribution was excellent though throughout.
Hannah started at the back and had yet another strong showing. Lily and bish were in the middle and ran the eagles ragged. Lily scoring 3 goals and bish, unusually after struggling to find her shooting boots early on, managed to grab 2. Hollie started up top but gradually moved to her more familiar defensive role. Annie came on and battled hard in an exiting first game.
Game 2 was against a ministry of sports side.
Hannah took a turn in goal for this one but was mainly a spectator as the girls racked up plenty of goals at the other end. Bish seemed to have found her range and managed to score 7 times whilst lily chipped in with another 2. Hollie also scored an absolute cracker to complete the scoring. Great performances from vanya and Annie as well had us in great shape leading up to what we knew would be a much tougher test.
Game 3 vs Ruislip rangers.
Following on from a fantastic and tight match against Ruislip in the aylesbury development tournament, the two sides again played out a belter. Hollie took a turn in goal for this one and didn't disappoint. Always a strong keeper, Hollie done well against a good side. Hannah and bish stayed deep in this match and were in the thick of it from the off. Some strong tackling and good forward passing from them both.
Vanya worked well with lily and Annie and managed to get a rare goal for herself which was richly deserved. Annie's confidence has grown with her undoubted ability of late and it was clear to see when playing good opposition that she can match anyone. Lily again tackled hard and ran with pace and skill at Ruislip time and again. Something we are used to seeing week in week out now. It may have ended in a narrow defeat but was a fantastic game to watch.
Our final game was against an academy side from Hendon. Lily was kind enough to go in goal for this game and done everything she could to stop a strong attacking opposition. A real end to end game this one and again every girl gave their all. Special mention in this one though goes to Hollie and Hannah who tackled tenaciously throughout to keep Hendon at bay. Even at 2-0 down the girls heads didn't drop. Suddenly 3 Sophie bish goals saw us in the lead before we were again pegged back. With almost the last run and kick of the game though, bish smashed another home.
A great fun morning had by everyone. Some good football, great goals and better than anything some big smiles throughout as it should be. 20 goals scored in 4 games to boot! Well done! Finally thank you to all the parents who made the trip down to mill hill so early on a Saturday. I hope you agree with me when I say it was definitely worth it!
