AUWFC U18s vs Leighton Corinthians – Match Report
Saturday 26th September – Kingsbrook 4G

With no pitches available in Leighton Buzzard, the U18s hosted the reverse fixture at Kingsbrook 4G. Corinthians arrived with ten players, so we matched them 10v10, leaving us one sub. We also welcomed back Tia Gonera, recalled from her loan at Chinnor.

It was the first game of the season for Jay Aldous, and he quickly showed his quality. From the start we dominated possession, moved the ball smoothly, and pressed well across the pitch. Phoebe and Jay linked up nicely, creating several chances before Jay scored our first goal of the season.

We led 1–0 at half‑time and encouraged the girls to be braver with their shooting. Early in the second half, Rowan struck from distance and her effort slipped through the hands of the impressive visiting keeper — a deserved reward for our pressure.

The game opened up and chances kept coming. Erin Randall produced a brilliant run past four players before firing just wide, drawing gasps from the crowd. Momentum was building, and Neili reacted quickest in the box to make it 3–0 with a confident finish.

The final goal was the pick of the bunch: a flowing move from the back, through midfield, down the right to Neili, who delivered a perfect cross for Erin W to calmly slot into the bottom corner. The keeper had no chance.

A complete performance and a 4–0 win — our first goals and first victory of the season. The cup is tough, with D1 and D2 teams mixing across different levels, but today the girls showed they can play excellent football. Plenty more to come as they grow through the season.
