Hitchin Belles V Aylesbury United U12’s Saturday Sept 23rd Match report:
Hitchin Belles started the game very strongly showing good pace; they were certainly on top for the first 10 minutes. The ball went into the back of our net but phew…the off side rule was our friend (nice one lino Dave). We started to look good on the counter attack as we were getting into our rhythm.
Priya with the wind behind her kicked long from goal; a good bounce & Ellie took the ball brilliantly under control to score; 0-1 23rd minute.
Shortly later we went 2 goals up; this time an OG after pressure from Imogen’s corner.
Even though we had a 2 goal cushion Hitchen were threatening. Great defending from all in defence especially Holly making some well timed intercepts saw the score line remain 0-2 at half time.
Start of the 2nd half Isla was knocking on the door to score; their GK keeper making some crucial saves to deny her & Ellie.
Persistence pays off; Ellie sores a great 2nd of the day after pressure was put on their goal from Evie, Nicole & Olivia battling away tirelessly looking for the opportunities. Liv was now in full flow; great run, dodging tackles to win a free kick. Olivia steps up to take it; yes!…goal number 4 a shot that dipped under the bar over the GK’s hands.
Hitchen didn’t give up, they kept probing our defence who remained strong; we displayed some great late challenges from Millie, Rhea & Grace to keep us with a clean sheet for the 3rd time running.
A fantastic team performance today with Ellie being awarded POTM; well deserved as she showed such resilience today.
