An exciting game and fantastic battle against a strong, well-organised team, with both squads striving for success in a fast paced match. Fortunately for us, despite a concerted effort by St Albans the Whites remain undefeated to win 5-2.

The game was evenly matched to begin with, both teams fighting to attack and defend, sending the ball quickly between each end of the pitch. Quick passes from Mia to Evie, Ellie and Nicole demonstrated good teamwork which moved the ball quickly towards our end. Likewise, the effective partnerships between Nicole and Olivia, Imogen and Millie enabled our team to remain strong. Our defence worked hard to block and clear, though when the ball did get through Prya made some excellent saves, confidently coming out of her goal to stop the ball.

In the 20th minute Aylesbury United Whites produced a quick succession of goals and a hat trick for Ellie. Ellie’s quick reflex from Olivia’s attempt gave Ellie her first, followed almost immediately with two more. Great passing between Isla and Imogen, demonstrated
how well our new number 12, in only her 5th game for us, showed how quickly she has slotted into the team. Final clearances by Grace and Imogen kept the half time score at 3 -0.

St Albans City Orient returned from the break determined to score, making it 3-1 in the first minute of the second half. This did not deter our players who continued to impress the coaches with great tackles, and impressive 1-2s to enable them to move around their opponents. Good communication by Ellie and Olivia proved effective though Ellie’s 4th goal was disallowed. Thankfully, a few minutes later Olivia scored our 4th goal with a successful penalty. The opposition's confidence increased, with attackers making more attempts at goal, forcing our defence to stay on their toes, the number 10 scoring their second goal.

Following this, our brave reserve goalie Millie took over from Prya, who went off with a knee injury. She made some impressive saves, including saving a penalty kick, after a questionable handball was given against us. Rhia and Imogen battled for possession. A few more impressive attempts were succeeded by a final goal from Olivia to make the final score 5-2 to us.

Millie was awarded player of the match, a popular decision, for subbing for our injured goalie and proving herself as an excellent reserve. Well done Millie!
