Match Report November 18th U12 AULFC

Cup game; opposition are riding high at the top of the division above us. We started off well matched but were forced to make some defensive changes early on which caused us to lose our shape & confidence. Priya made a couple of great saves early on but was beaten twice so we went into the half time break 0-2; somewhat dejected.
We had hoped the girls would pick themselves up for the second half & that’s exactly what happened. Defensively we were strong with Mia putting an exceptional performance in; supported by Holly, Rhea & Grace; supporting the midfield when possible. Midfield started to work better giving the front players some good service. Priya made a good save, long kick downfield for Liv to see Ellie through…bang goal number 1! Ellie had come close hitting the bar a few minutes earlier; we were now getting into our flow.
Milana boosted the midfield & backed up the defence well allowing Evie, Nicole, Isla, Immy & Olivia to get forward up the flanks when possible.
We had 2 minutes left 1-2; we had to score when Liv put Ellie through, she faded the GK & carefully passed it into an open net…Extra time here we come!
Evie was tirelessly running up the right wing; riding tackles that flew in. Priya made more crucial saves keeping us in the game. We were throwing everything into this now. Patience & resilience paid off; the oppo had just switched keepers around clearly hoping to help their chances of getting a 3rd goal but Liv cut in from the left; shot on target but the girl who was previously n goal deflected it past her GK!
THE CROWD WENT WILD; well, the Aylesbury fans did…final whistle blew; from 2 down we won 3-2 ?
