Another chance for Aylesbury United Whites and Harvesters Girls to meet after their recent clash in Aylesbury where our team were the winners.

From the onset, the Harvester Girls looked determined to defeat the winning Whites this time around in a fraught battle. The play in the first half was fast, with both teams tackling hard in a bid to win the ball from their opponents. At this point our team was a little disjointed due to the way the Harvester’s played and had lost some of their positioning and shaping, however their single-mindedness and skill did not disappoint. Imogen stayed strong in midfield, winning the tackles to increase the pressure. Numerous attempts at goal were made by the Harvester girls, though fortunately our defense stayed strong with Mia, Millie and Holly blocking the way. Our goalie Priya produced some effective saves when the ball did get through, making her job look easy.

Aylesbury were urged to increase pressure and Olivia and Ellie made several attempts at goal. Our new player, Milana, in her first match for us, slotted into the team effectively and demonstrated a quick rapport with her new team mates. Her passing showed great communication as she found players who were unmarked and in position. After putting in a hard tackle to win the ball, Milana quickly found and crossed to Evie who had moved speedily down the wing away from her marker and into space.

Changes were made with Grace and Rhea joining our captain Holly to maintain our solid defense. Rhea demonstrated her strength with long kicks away from the home goal. When the ball passed to our opposition, Grace cleverly covered the ball to force the ball out of play to win a throw-in for our team. Fortunately for our girls, it wasn't long before the ball found the back of the net as Ellie produced the first goal of the match from Evie’s corner. This was followed a few minutes later with a goal from Olivia. Relief at half time as our team got back on track. The half- time score was 2-0 to us.

With the lead, came a confident team in the second half who continued to remain determined to stay in front .Our talented midfielder, Nicole, made lots of super runs down the wing, working hard to keep the lead. As always, Isla never gave up and moved swiftly down the pitch, making some lovely quick passes. There were a few more tense moments for each team as both sides tried to score. An offside decision against the Harvester’s was succeeded by Olivia’s second goal of the match making it another triumph for us with a 3-0 final score.

A huge congratulations this week goes to Nicole, who was given player of the match for her skills in midfield. Well done Nicole!
