Match Report Dec 16th v Bishops Stortford
No subs today. Isla played very much out of position in defence. She rose well to the challenge!
We started well but looked a little tired & unconfident which was made worse when the opposition’s first attack saw them take the lead. We had lots of possession but couldn’t make it count in the first half taking another blow as their 2nd goal went in. Nicole & Milana were linking up beautifully in attack & Ellie was hot onto any opportunity that came her way. Evie was tirelessly running up the wing making some great crosses; she took a ball to the face with 10 minutes to go; didn’t flinch however the blood from her nose caused her to go off until the start of the second half!
Second half saw us come out fighting, we were attacking down hill which helped & our patience & great give & go passing today gave us an opening; Nicole scoring to make it 2-1.
Their oppo No 9 was very strong, physical too as were their whole team, we conceded again.
This then saw us really dig deep, battling for every ball. Ellie was so alert & strong today especially to pounce on Evie’s shot to give us another goal.
Priya was getting more into the game & improving as the match went on to keep the game in reach helped by Grace, Millie & Isla defending for their lives to allow Immy, Nicole, Milana & Evie to be creative on the ball. Big kick from Priya, Ellie with a defender in tow out ran her to give us a draw, 3-3. Sadly then came 2 great runs again by their number 9 giving them 2 more goals. 5-3 loss but what a fight we put up! What a performance by our 9 girls today, all parents & coaches were super proud!
