Stevenage v AULU12’s 03/02/24
We started strong creating chances from the off but right against the run of play Stevenage put their forward through 1 on 1 with Priya & they slotted it home to go 1-0 up. This shot on goal was 1 from only 4 attempts all match.
Their GK went off injured; giving us optimism this would go in our favour but the stand in seemed to have luck on her side all match!
Evie was battling with the defence creating lots of great runs; our passing was really good supporting eachother. Millie, Mia, Rhea, Grace & Holly all aided the attack getting forward when they could.
We were getting stronger & stronger creating loads of chances but we couldn’t capitalise from sterling runs & nifty footwork from Nicole later awarded POTM who helped Aylesbury end the first half really on top; we must have 80% procession doing everything but score. Milana & Liv came so close on numerous occasions, Ellie too. Imogen & Isla supported in Midfield linking up well in attack.
Priya avoided a handling wobble at the start of the second half but that was the only real threat Stevenage gave us. Milana, Liv, Ellie & Evie were shooting at every opportunity we were getting closer each time. Changes were made in our attack but whatever we did the same result frustratingly we couldn’t get the ball in the net! We were unlucky not to win a penalty or 2 when Evie was brought down twice but today just wasn’t our day. We showed great fight & determination & all the girls gave 100%. Outstanding efforts girls ?
